FAQ’s

Acupuncture works by increasing blood flow in the body.

What happens when you get a cut?? Blood will rush to the area to heal it.

Your body responds the same way to acupuncture. If an area of your body is injured blood will rush to that area to heal the area as blood carries everything we need to heal. Acupuncture is forcing the body to heal itself.

Example: Inflammation of a muscle- When a muscle is inflamed blood will get stuck in the muscle tissue causing swelling, redness, and pain. If we insert a needle in that area new blood will rush to that area washing away the old blood, reduce inflammation, and heal the tissue.

Acupuncture is not sensation-less. You may feel a slight pinch on insertion that should only last a second and some needles you won’t feel at all. Once the needles are in you won’t feel a thing except relaxed!

Acupuncture releases endorphins so many patients report feeling very calm and relaxed during treatment.

The needles used are solid, stainless steel, pre-sterilized, single use needles.

Acupuncture needles are very tiny! .16mm in diameter!

Labor Preparation Acupuncture

As your due date approaches, acupuncture can offer gentle support to help your body prepare for labor. Treatments are typically offered in the final weeks of pregnancy and are designed to promote relaxation, comfort, and readiness. We usually recommend weekly from 36 weeks on.

Labor preparation acupuncture helps:

  • Support the body’s natural readiness for labor
  • Promote relaxation and calm
  • Ease late-pregnancy discomfort

Moxibustion for Breech Babies

If your baby is in a breech position, acupuncture with moxibustion is a gentle, non-invasive option to support optimal positioning.

Moxibustion uses warmth (not needles) on a specific acupuncture point, most often between 32–38 weeks of pregnancy.

It helps:

  • Encourage fetal movement
  • Support the baby turning head-down

Moxibustion is used alongside standard prenatal care and is always tailored to your individual pregnancy.

It is very important to let your practitioner know if you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant as there are some points that are contraindicated during pregnancy.

All staff is highly trained in treating pregnancy and fertility.

There are no major side effects with acupuncture except maybe the occasional bruise.

Many patients report feeling relaxed and carefree.
